Conceptual Site Modelling

Conceptual Site Modelling

Conceptual site modelling is a package of work that comprises data gained from literature reviews, site history and investigations to provide a detailed, albeit conceptual, understanding of the subsurface, identify linkages and enabling the effective management of environmental risks associated with the site.

Construction of a sound conceptual site model is key to any environmental project and one example of a project where David has used conceptual site modelling to good effect was during a site investigation at a chemical manufacturing facility.

Extensive field testing and layering of qualitative and quantitative data was carried out to construct and test the detailed model facilitating strategic planning of the next phase of works. The conceptual site model evolved throughout the project and provided a dynamic tool to communicate findings and test hypotheses relating to migration pathways and groundwater flow.
