WSCC to discuss proposal and consultation response to Gatwick Airport Second Runway

In November 2014 the Airport Commission published for consultation its assessment of proposals for additional runway capacity at Gatwick and Heathrow airports Download here. It invited public comment on the commission’s detailed consideration of each proposal. This includes analysis of the cost of each proposal, the effect on communities of noise, property loss and construction, and the economic benefits and environmental impacts.

This month West Sussex County Council will scrutinise and debate its official response to the public consultation and discuss options for additional airport capacity in the south east. The plan includes the options for Heathrow and the Gatwick airport second runway and the final decision will be made by the new government after the general election. West Sussex’s Environmental and Community Services Select Committee members will meet on the 14 January and it will be webcast live at 10:30. In addition to this a full council meeting has also been organised for Monday 19 January 2015.
